Stainless steels are a group of steels that contain at least 10.5% chromium. The addition of this element, along with a wide variety of others, generally improves corrosion resistance and mechanical properties at high temperatures. Sheets can be supplied to many different end-user approvals.

A simple carbon spring steel containing higher levels of carbon than S510 and S511. Available in hardened/tempered sheet and strip but tensile strength only reaches hardness. Requires protection from corrosion if it is to be exposed to the atmosphere. |
S514 / S515
|
Carbon-manganese steel available in sheet and strip. Both grades chemically identical, S514 supplied heat treated to produce tensile strength (Rm) 770-1000 N/mm2.
S515 supplied soft annealed to give tensile strength (Rm) 460-600 N/mm2 before final heat treatment. |
