An unalloyed heat treatable carbon steel available in sheet and strip. Suitable for low strength components. Requires protection from corrosion if it is to be exposed to the atmosphere. Easily welded. Annealed tensile strength (Rm) 430-540 N/mm2. Usually supplied softened.

S511

An unalloyed heat treatable carbon steel available in sheet and strip. Suitable for low strength components requiring significant drawing operations during manufacture. Requires protection from corrosion if it is to be exposed to the atmosphere. Annealed tensile strength (Rm) 280-400 N/mm2.

BS EN2A

S513

A simple carbon spring steel containing higher levels of carbon than S510 and S511. Available in hardened/tempered sheet and strip but tensile strength only reaches hardness. Requires protection from corrosion if it is to be exposed to the atmosphere.

SEL 1.1169

S514 / S515

Carbon-manganese steel available in sheet and strip. Both grades chemically identical, S514 supplied heat treated to produce tensile strength (Rm) 770-1000 N/mm2.
S515 supplied soft annealed to give tensile strength (Rm) 460-600 N/mm2 before final heat treatment.

Austenitic chromium-nickel stainless steel stabilised with titanium. Available in hardened/tempered sheet and strip. Suitable for medium strength components requiring good corrosion resistance and cold workability. Good weldability. Tensile strength (Rm) 800-1100 N/mm2.

Austenitic chromium-nickel stainless steel stabilised with niobium. Available in hardened/tempered sheet and strip. Suitable for medium strength components requiring good corrosion resistance and cold workability. Good weldability. Tensile strength (Rm) 800-1100 N/mm2.

S526

Austenitic chromium-nickel stainless steel stabilised with titanium. Available in soft annealed sheet and strip. Suitable for low strength components requiring good corrosion resistance and cold workability. Good weldability. Tensile strength (Rm) 540 N/mm2.

S527

Austenitic chromium-nickel stainless steel stabilised with niobium. Available in soft annealed sheet and strip. Suitable for low strength components requiring good corrosion resistance and cold workability. Good weldability. Tensile strength (Rm) 540 N/mm2.
