Smiths High Performance offers an extensive range of magnesium products, including higher specification products grades. Our alloys give our customers design options which may not be readily available. We also process our magnesium alloys in-house. Although magnesium is a volatile material, we have all the necessary experience to cut these products safely. We are a single supply source for your magnesium alloy requirements.

Racing Wheels

As the lightest structural engineering material on the market, magnesium finds extensive use in the production of racing wheels. The alloy is lighter than aluminium and yet offers comparable strength. Magnesium is also straightforward to cast, which includes more intricate wheel designs.

Magnesium alloys also display excellent damping characteristics, i.e. the materials ability to dissipate vibration energy. Materials that mitigate the risk of excessive vibration are highly useful in motorsport engineering.
