Stainless steel offers benefits in numerous applications due to material benefits including corrosion resistance and heat resistance. Certain stainless steel grades also provide good strength and impact toughness.

By virtue of the alloy's performance characteristics, stainless finds use in applications such as turbo chargers, exhaust systems, manifolds and coupling rods. With an aesthetically pleasing finish, it can also find use for more cosmetic purposes such as trims.

PH Steels

Precipitation hardening stainless steels

PH steels are popular in motorsport engineering for use in fasteners and valve parts. Typical attributes include good corrosion resistance, high strength and good ductility. Stress-corrosion resistance is also a benefit.

Fasteners are produced using precipitation hardening stainless steel. Stainless steel finds use across motorsport in racing series such as NASCAR.
Precipitation hardening (also known as age hardening) is a heat treatment process which strengthens and hardens stainless steel.
