Special steels are a collection of steels grades selected for their advanced properties. They find applications in a variety of high-technology market sectors where improved mechanical properties over more basic engineering steels are required.

Most of these steels are produced to more than one specification and they can be made to bespoke requirements where required

A chromium-nickel-molybdenum heat treatable steel. It is used at a variety of strength levels and at each level possesses remarkable ductility and toughness. Modified version: see 300M.
